Roberts, who spent last season with the Tampa Bay Rays, will be active Monday when the Red Sox host the Texas Rangers in the opener of a three-game series. The 33-year-old veteran appeared in 60 games for the Rays in 2013 and batted .247 with five home runs and 17 runs batted in. A career .245 hitter, Roberts has racked up 46 homers, 169 RBI and 35 stolen bases over parts of eight seasons with Toronto, Texas, Arizona and Tampa Bay.
